What is AJAX Suggestions?

AJAX Suggestions is pretty much what you might have seen with Google Suggest. The basic idea is, through AJAX, to give the user an immediate response to what they're typing and displaying the search results their input would generate. AJAX Suggestions is an unobtrusive JavaScript to add that progressive enhancement to your web page, by the usage of two CSS class names to the desired input elements.

It could also be used, for instance, in an online e-mail application where you would want to check a name in a global address book and return the related matches, with the possibility to then adding them to the field element.

AutoCompleter Tutorial - jQuery(Ajax)/PHP/MySQL

I thought i would write this tutorial because most of the auto completer applications i have seen just dump the code into a zip and tell you how to use it rather than how and why it works, knowing about this enables you to customise it a lot more (this has been demonstrated with the other apps i have written here)!

Slimbox(Extended Version)

Slimbox is Lightbox clone by Christophe Beyls. This extended version has additional features as follows.

Support to show external content by iframe. You can assign url not only for image but also for general html document.
Support to set content size. You can add width/height parameter in rev attribute of the anchor url.
e.g.) rev="width=500, height=300" (For image content, you can also use percent value.)
Some rendering problem with IE6 is fixed. Now you can use Slimbox in valid XHTML document with XML prolog.
Of course, license is same as original.(MIT-style)

for Obu Web i’ve found myself spending less time on code I would say meets the definition of AJAX I put in my book and more time

on code that used to be called DHTML. But I guess I’m ok calling it AJAX, at least its pronouncable and building little JavaScript widgets is fun.
